Beginners 5K Training Program

This is meant for beginners based on the couch to 5K philosophy (as long as you can walk 15 minutes straight the plan gets you to 5K.)

What's included in the training?
- Meet ups twice a week with an certified running coach
- Weekly training calendar and email availability with the coach
- Instruction on proper running form, race preparation and race day support
- Advice on running shoes and other running gear
- Nutrition and hydration information
- Strength, stretching, and core workouts
Coach Michelle Martinez
Michelle is passionate about running and racing and truly loves helping others reach their running goals, weather that
be finishing their first 5K or setting a new PR in the Marathon. She began running competively at the Community College
level and has continued to be a competitive Age Group runner for the past 40 years. She is currently an assistant cross country
coach at Ventura High School and has coached many different age groups including; elementary, middle, high school, and adults.
She has been sidelined for several months recently with a back injury but is looking forward to getting back into running shape with
the Couch to 5K training participants!
*Meeting: Introductions, talk about goals for the training, running shoes, nutrition, hydration, stretching, core, and short run/walk.
- Blue - days we meet as a group
- Minimum of 10 participants to sign up for training, would like 20+
- Encourage participants to join the running club after completing the training
- Cost of training? Free to all current members of the club (must be a member of the club for duration of the training program. It is only $49.95 per year.)
